Renowned artists such as Banx & Ranx (feat. Rêve) and Preston Pablo will be performing during the night

“The City of Mississauga announced a portion of its events that are going to take place as part of its New Year’s Eve celebration.

One of Canada’s most prominent artists, Banx & Ranx, will perform on Saturday, Dec. 31 at the city’s Celebration Square.

The duo will be joined by Rêve, as well as R&B artist Preston Pablo, known for his hit track “Flowers Need Rain.”

“With tasty food trucks, a fabulous Face Glitter Bar, skating on the City’s largest outdoor rink, fireworks, and so much more, the (Celebration) Square is the place to be for 2023,” the city’s website reads.

The events will be hosted by YouTuber and presenter Rebecca Tandon and Mississauga’s Scott Willats.

There will be more artist announcements coming soon, the website added.

The city will also be organizing a variety of family-friendly events for children during the celebration.

From busting a move with a TikTok Dance Party to watching high-tech magic that brings drawings to life at the city’s animation station, and shouting “Happy New Year!” under a shower of confetti at 9 p.m.

• 8 p.m. — NYE Junior, in media partnership with YTV

• 9 p.m. — NYE Junior Confetti Countdown

• 9 p.m. — Preston Pablo

• 10 p.m. — Rêve

• 11 p.m. — Banx & Ranx

• Midnight — Fireworks presented by Tim Hortons

ROAD CLOSURES

The following roads will be closed on Dec. 31 from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. due to the events.

• Duke of York Boulevard from Burnhamthorpe Road West to Prince of Wales Drive (one northbound lane to remain open to filter traffic out of Square One at Princess Royal)

• City Centre Drive from Living Arts Drive to Mercer Street

• Princess Royal Drive from Living Arts Drive to Duke of York Boulevard

From 11:30 p.m. to midnight, these roads will be closed:

• Living Arts Drive from Burnhamthorpe Road West to Prince of Wales Drive

• Burnhamthorpe Road West from Confederation Parkway to Hurontario Street

• Kariya Gate from Burnhamthorpe Road West to City Centre Drive (northbound lanes only)

ONLINE CONTEST

The city has also organized an online contest where participants can win a chance to meet Banx & Ranx, with VIP viewing access to the concert, and a $25 Square One gift card.

The contest runs until Dec. 16. Download the contest rules on the city’s website.

Visitors are advised to enter via City Centre Drive and Living Arts Drive or City Centre Drive and Duke of York.
