“The City of Mississauga is inviting not-for-profit arts, culture and community groups to apply now for financial help next year.

New this year, the City is also making available a for-profit live music grant approved by council as part of Mississauga’s first Music Strategy in support of the local music sector.

Applications for the City’s 2023 Culture and Community Grant Programs will open online starting on Monday (Aug. 22). Those wishing to apply must first attend a virtual information session, unless their group received City funding in the last two years.

“We’re committed to supporting local organizations to enable them to provide much-needed services to the community,” said Jodi Robillos, the City’s commissioner of community services. “Grant funding provides our artists and community organizations the ability to sustain their operations. Many organizations have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic are are still in recovery mode. We are also excited to introduce a new grant that continues to support Mississauga’s live music and shows the City’s commitment to its growth.”

The new live music grant will provide a maximum of $90,000 in total funding for two years as a pilot program.

Grants are provided in six programs: arts and culture; community; cultural festivals and celebrations; culture projects; small projects matching grant; and live music.

Arts and culture virtual sessions are scheduled for Aug. 31 (9-10 a.m.) and Sept. 14 (6-7 p.m.), community grant sessions for Sept. 6 (6-7 p.m.) and Sept. 16 (12-1 p.m.), cultural festivals and celebrations sessions for Sept. 1 (6-7 p.m.) and Sept. 15 (9-10 a.m.), culture projects sessions for Aug. 31 (9-10 a.m.) and Sept. 14 (6-7 p.m.), small projects sessions for Sept. 6 (6-7 p.m.) and Sept. 16 (12-1 p.m.), and live music sessions for Sept. 12 (12-1 p.m.) and Sept. 13 (6-7 p.m.).
