“March Break is just around the corner which means it’s time to start planning out how to spend the week.

From spending time outdoors to a fun (and free!) festival taking place all around the city, the possibilities are endless when it comes to finding ways to stay busy with the family.

So, without further ado, here are five things to do on March Break in Mississauga this year.

Check out this unique festival

Puppet Festival Mississauga, which was formerly known as the Bridges Festival, is an international festival of Puppetry and Animation presented by the Crane Creations Theatre Company.

The festival will take place all over the City of Mississauga over a seven-day period during March Break (Mar. 8 to 15, 2023).

This year, the community can expect exciting shows, engaging workshops and an informative exhibition all of which discover the art of puppetry.

Participate in these family-friendly activities

The Mississauga Library will be offering several activities to keep families busy this March Break.

While the activities will vary by library branch, Mississauga Library will be offering opportunities for residents to learn about 3D printers, play board games, bring their little ones to baby and family storytimes, join a LEGO club and more.

The Mississauga Library will also be offering magic shows, science workshops, bucket drumming, an exotic animal show, crafts, a tween sewing machine introduction and more.

The City of Mississauga commissions and maintains a collection of permanent public art. For those who enjoy going on outdoor adventures and taking photos, this might be a fun (and free) activity to do this March Break. Public art often includes sculptures, monuments, and integrated artworks.

Residents are encouraged to check out the public art map to see the locations of artwork in public spaces throughout the city so they can plan out their adventures.

Go for an outdoor skate

Skating is another fun activity residents can do on March Break, especially at Celebration Square, where they can skate on the City’s largest outdoor ice rink with friends or family. The ice rink is open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

And, if you’re feeling adventurous and want to go skating somewhere else, the City also has over 30 natural rinks to choose from.”
