Mississauga Comic Expo (MCX) 2021

Mississauga Comic Expo (MCX) will be returning for a fully-virtual convention on October 22 and 23 with additional events throughout the month. MCX celebrates the diverse culture of comics, gaming, anime and more! This free event will be highlighting comic artists and authors.

Join us online for engaging author talks, sketch challenges, Pictionary and trivia!

Our featured author talk guests are Aminder Dhaliwal, Stephanie Cooke, Sanya Anwar, Ho Che Anderson, and Ryan North.

We will also have sketch challenges featuring Adam Gorman, Jenn St.Onge, Joy San, Megan Huang, Meaghan Carter, and Paris Alleyne.

Event: Sketch Challenge (Megan Huang, Meaghan Carter, Paris Alleyne)​​

Three comic artists, Megan Huang, Meaghan Carter, and Paris Alleyne, battle in an online sketch challenge. The audience will choose which characters the artists will draw. Q&A throughout the program.

Event: Author Talk with Ho Che Anderson​​

Admission: Free

Age: All attendees must be 13 or older.

Ho Che Anderson is the Toronto based author of numerous graphic novels, including the Martin Luther King biography King and the horror thriller Sand & Fury. His 2018 book, Godhead, is a gritty sci-fi graphic novel about how society reacts after a powerful corporation creates a device to communicate with God.

Event: Author Talk with Ryan North​

Admission: Free

Ryan North is a comics creator from Toronto, Ont. He rose to popularity with the webcomic Dinosaur Comics, featuring an enthusiasic T-Rex. North’s comics for Adventure Time, Jughead and The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl have received Eisner Awards. He has also written two “choose-your-own-path” books, To Be Or Not To Be and Romeo and/or Juliet, parodying Shakespeare’s famous tragedies. He wrote How to Invent Everything, a non-fiction guide for stranded time travellers on how to rebuild modern civilization from scratch. Its sequel, How To Take Over The World, comes out March 15th, 2022.
