DoGood Fundraising Day

DoGood Fundraising will bring together speakers for a day of professional development, relevant for non-profit and charitable organizations. The day will be focused on ways that we can improve our fundraising efforts and practices. A highlight of the event will include a networking breakfast and lunch, a first for many following the Covid-19 pandemic.

9:00am Networking Breakfast

9:40am TED-style Brief Talks:

Shaminda Perera (he/him), Manager, Learning and Resource Development – on the importance of capacity building, and benefits of the Volunteer MBC Learning Centre, services offered, and perks of membership.

Alex Glass (she/her), Executive Director – on the secret ingredient for successful arts and culture venues, as seen by ArtsBuild Ontario. She will discuss the history of partnership and models, and provide examples of non-profit cultural venues

Rohit Mehta, (he/him), Founder and President – on the trends in granting, seen throughout the covid-19 pandemic. Rohit will also share challenges and opportunities in fundraising as we return back to in-person activities and engagements.

10:10am *Building Partnerships for Community Resources* – Join Stephanie Crocker (she/her), Principal Consultant, SCC Consulting, who has successfully advocated for the development of community gardens in Mississauga, during her Executive Director role at EcoSource. She will share strategies for effectively partnering and collaborating with governments to develop shared community resources.

11:00am *Grow your Digital Presence for Fundraising* –Is your organization thriving online? We will be joined by Marketing Advisor & Brand Strategist Daniel Francavilla (he/him) of King Street Media and Daniel Does Consulting to discuss how your non-profit or charity can grow its digital presence to ultimately reach your impact and fundraising goals. We will discuss branding and social media marketing, and the use of online platforms to build community and better showcase your impact to supporters and funders.

11:40am *Effective Fundraising Volunteers* – How do I get my volunteers involved in fundraising? After being asked this question often, Marianthi, (She/her; Volunteer Coordinator at Seva Food Bank), will share strategies for recruitment, retention, engagement, and evaluation of volunteers. She will touch on ways that relationships can be developed to lead to more experienced volunteers, and to groom them for Board roles.

12:20pm Lunch and Networking

1:20pm *A Conversation with Nonprofit Funders* – We will welcome Paul Chamberlain (he/him; United Way of Greater Toronto), Jennifer Kirner (she/her; TELUS) and other funders for an opportunity to discuss trends, challenges, and advice for the nonprofit sector. Participants will have a chance to ask open-ended questions, without discussing the specifics of any pending grant application or submission.
